It takes time, energy and money to get charitable status – investments and trade-offs that vital groups may not want to, or be able to, make. After extensive lobbying by the sector, the Government of Canada is enabling funders like Toronto Foundation to directly fund incorporated community non-profits.
This fall the Toronto’s Vital Signs Grants will include funding for 10 such groups. Help us top up the $250,000 that will be divided amongst each organization.
With the rates of volunteering and giving way down, these groups are a beacon, shining the light on the power of local organizing, residents coming together to identify and action solutions
Act quickly to ensure hyperlocal groups can ramp up this year. The deadline to contribute to the Community-led Change Fund is July 31, 2023.
