So much has happened this month that it all feels a bit surreal. We hope you and your loved ones are healthy and well supported during this crisis. Over the last week we’ve been talking about how we can help those who are not so fortunate and suspect that you’ve been doing the same.
The impacts of COVID-19 will not be shared equally. Some of our neighbours have seen their jobs disappear. Part-time and temporary workers may be facing the impossible question of whether to pay for food or rent. They may have to visit a food bank for the first time ever. Those with mental health challenges will no doubt be triggered. Frontline workers supporting our most vulnerable will face increased demands and stresses.
For those looking for a central place to give, we’ve established a vehicle for you to pool your donation with other progressive donors to support organizations on the front lines. All funding will be 100% unrestricted. By supporting a coordinated effort we ensure that no one is left behind.
With all that said, you do NOT have to contribute to the fund to be part of the coalition.
You can also give gifts directly to any number of vital organizations on the ground. We will be providing lists of organizations for you to consider as our efforts unfold. We welcome contributions of time and treasure – working together we will weather this crisis.
Special thanks to Vancity Community Investment Bank, sponsor of our Better Toronto Coalition weekly webinars and first contributor to the Better Toronto Coalition Fund.
