Charlie’s FreeWheels (CFW) engages youth by offering innovative year-long programming based around a concrete product – a bicycle. In their work, bicycles serve as drivers for personal growth and positive social change, liberate their riders, and expose young people to new opportunities. Youth have full access to tools in the CFW Build-A-Bike program. They are able to ask an experienced mechanic any questions about how to maintain their bicycle, learn on-road safety, and see more of their city. To support its program evaluation activities, CFW is researching the best practices of other bicycle focused programs to refine and formally document its current curriculum, and to lay the foundation for promotional activities.
Charlie’s FreeWheels is trusteed by Regent Park Community Health Centre.
