FoodShare works on issues “from field to table” – focusing on the entire system that feeds us: from the growing, processing, and distribution of food to its purchasing, cooking, and consumption. They provide grassroots food projects that promote healthy eating, teach how and where food is grown and how to prepare it, develop community capacity, and organize not-for-profit food distribution systems.
Jesus Gomez is a visionary and passionate advocate for good food who’s revolutionizing school cafeterias across the city. As a leader of colour who immigrated to Canada from Colombia, Jesus has overcome obstacles to employment, while finding his passion in cooking and using his gift as a chef to transform the community. FoodShare was awarded this grant to support Jesus’ facilitation training, enrollment in school food programming courses, and presentation at a conference on fostering healthy school food culture.
