Based in Toronto, Jane’s Walk is an international initiative based on a model of free, citizen-led walking tours inspired by the late renowned urbanist Jane Jacobs. The organization supports individual emerging leaders and local organizations to run and promote community walking tours as a way of creating fresh thinking about active citizenship, urban planning, local history and neighbourhood building for all walks of life.
Denise Pinto is a connector and trusted voice amongst urbanists who is empowering local residents to take ownership and have pride in their public space and communities. Jane’s Walk was awarded this grant to support Denise’s enrollment in the THNK School of Creative Leadership in Vancouver. Dubbed by Stanford University as “the future of higher education,” the school focuses on creativity, business model innovation, and entrepreneurship for social impact.
Jane’s Walk is trusteed by TIDES Canada Initiatives Society.
