Mentoring Juniors Kids Organization (MJKO)

Mentoring Junior Kids Organization (MJKO) promotes positive and healthy lifestyle choices through mentoring and leadership training in a safe and encouraging environment. MJKO’s Blueprint program is comprised of an interactive and skill building curriculum based around the sport of non-contact boxing, including physical fitness, social development, mental skills training, and commitment to community involvement.

As a survivor of sexual assault at 16, Miranda Kamal took up boxing as a part of her healing process. Later in life she entered the ring as a competitive boxer before sustaining a serious spine injury. Unable to box again, she decided to use everything she had learned to give back to the community and founded MJKO. MJKO was awarded this grant to further Miranda’s education with the National Coaching Certification Program to Level 3, providing her with critical training related to addressing mental health issues, a struggle many MJKO students experience, as well as training in American Sign Language to expand the delivery of MJKO’s newest program, Hearing the Deaf.
