aChild #BeAKey Campaign

Education is a cornerstone of a healthy and vibrant society.

In our elementary schools there are currently thousands of children across Ontario in the early grades with acknowledged learning challenges that require a psychoeducational assessment by a trained psychologist to identify their learning styles.

I’ve learned this as our youngest son was identified, assessed, had an individualized education plan put in place for grade three.  He is now off to grade nine a confident young man, thanks to our ability to fund the testing without waiting for a government subsidized assessment.  As we could #BeAKey to unlock school resources for our son, we are asking for your help to provide funding for an assessment for those less fortunate.

A formal, early diagnosis is critical to ensure that the school curriculum is modified for these children, as early as possible, to ensure scholastic success.  However, each assessment costs up to $3,000 which many families cannot afford. As a result, they are put on a subsidy waiting list and the wait for these families is now two-to-four years or more.  This long wait pushes intervention off and results in lost time at a critical time in the child’s development.  The wait may not only just affect their future lost contribution as adults, but their personal well-being as independent, financially secure individuals.

aChild’s beneficiary The Children’s Aid Foundation – an organization that truly has children with educational challenges that will have their scholastic lives drastically changed with your investment.

Please help us reduce the subsidy waiting list and fund an assessment for one of the many families in urgent need right now, so that these children may receive these assessments as soon as possible.

I encourage you to please visit our website, www.aChild.ca, for more information about our purpose, beneficiary and news articles pertaining to our cause.
