CATALYZING LASTING CHANGE IN TORONTO
When you include Toronto Foundation as part of your estate plans you join the Fraser and Frances Deacon Legacy Society, a group of forward thinking philanthropists who, like you, have a vision for the future. The Society is named after two of our founders who were committed to catalyzing lasting change for generations in the city that had given them so much. Members are invited to our calendar of fundholder events and receive regular updates.
Every second year, members of the society are also invited to take part in awarding the Deacon Legacy Grants to organizations addressing chronic stresses facing Toronto.
Society members are invited to participate in a selection committee to shortlist eligible organizations. The candidates then take part in a live event that brings their work to life through storytelling, performances and other presentations that are authentic to the experiences of the communities they serve.

We acknowledge we are on the traditional territories of the Huron-Wendat, the Anishinabek Nation, the Haudenosaunee Confederacy and the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. While Indigenous communities in Toronto remain strong, vibrant, and resilient, they need support to address and overcome the impact of colonialism and systemic inequalities. Furthering Indigenous reconciliation and sovereignty are integral to achieving a more fair and just society where everyone can thrive.
We aim to be an ally and to fund local Indigenous organizations.
