The Susan Jean Jackson (SJJ) Foundation has been established to support numerous programs and initiatives that provide long-term care to some of our city’s most vulnerable citizens.  Inspired by, and named after my mother, the SSJ Foundation is rooted in the principles my mother instilled in me and my two younger brothers as children in this city: Compassion, Caring and Love. The initial focus of the SJJ foundation’s charitable giving is to ensure the networks in place that provide care and support to women and children in shelters and those seeking refuge from abuse, have the resources they need to provide the highest standard of service.

Matthew’s Camp

The Susan Jean Jackson Foundation will also support Matthew’s Camp, named after my youngest brother, my mother’s youngest son, who passed away in a car accident in 2018 at the age of 21.  Matthew’s Camp will provide financial and practical support to inner-city children who wish to attend summer camp, one of Matthew’s most fondly regarded childhood experiences, and one that has strong potential to grow a young person’s sense of self-worth through life-skills building, exposure to positive role
models, and friendship.
