The Mimi, Torrance & Terrence Family Fund celebrates the remarkable lives and values of Mimi, her son Torrance, and her son Terrence. This fund embodies their shared legacy of resilience, creativity, and compassion, channelling their unique experiences into meaningful support for others.

Mimi, the family’s matriarch, dedicated over 30 years to her work as a librarian, fostering connections in her community. Outside of her profession, Mimi’s love for dance led her to form and lead a line dancing group that became a cherished space for friendship and joy. Known for her extraordinary thoughtfulness, she had an unparalleled ability to brighten others’ days with small but meaningful gestures. As a caregiver, she supported her son Torrance with unmatched love and strength throughout his journey with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, embodying resilience and compassion.

Torrance was a beacon of creativity, kindness, and determination. Despite the challenges posed by Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, he pursued a college education and thrived as a goaltender in power wheelchair hockey, earning multiple MVP honours and championships. Torrance’s artistic talent flourished even as his physical abilities changed; using adaptive technology, he created My Neighbour Totoro-inspired artwork, which he shared on TikTok under *My Neighbour Totorrance*. With over 90,000 followers, Torrance brought joy and inspiration to thousands, leaving a lasting legacy of creativity and hope.

Terrence, shaped by his role as a family and sibling caregiver, ensures that the fund reflects the family’s shared experiences and values. Through this initiative, he honours Mimi’s ability to create meaningful community connections, her love of dance, and her resilience in facing cancer and mental health challenges. He also preserves Torrance’s passion for the arts and advocacy for those living with disabilities and mental health challenges.

At this time, the Mimi, Torrance & Terrence Family Fund is committed to supporting organizations that align with the family’s values, focusing on caregiving, mental health, disability advocacy, the arts, and fostering inclusive communities. This fund serves as a living legacy of love, compassion, and creativity, ensuring their impact resonates for generations to come.
