This is a brand new fund that has been established in December 2021 with the purpose of supporting women and underrepresented individuals in Canada to gain access to education to further their governance education.

The idea first emerged when Sally Ng was taking part in the Institute of Corporate Director’s (ICD) Program and had the opportunity to share her reflections as part of her valedictorian speech. She could easily look across the room and see the lack of diversity and access to the governance training programs due to the cost of the program. The initial donation to establish the fund has been already made by Sally, but in order to meet the future objectives, donations are needed to help further the purpose of the fund.

Over the next 6 months, prior to the end of 2022, these are the next steps with this fund:

  1. Grow the fund (please share & donate)
  2. Identify and establish an advisory committee that will help establish terms of reference and process for distribution of the funds
  3. Once #1 and #2 are established then we’ll begin to take on applications.

For anyone looking to take part in #2. Please fill out this form (https://forms.gle/nb1BsGai3jtFmzyUA) and we’ll be in touch.

Thank you to the Toronto Foundation which holds and administers the fund.  Any donations received through CanadaHelps of $3 or more will receive a charitable tax receipt. All other donations (via cheque, wire transfer) of $25 or more will receive a charitable tax receipt.

To enable the Donor Advisor to properly recognize donors for their contributions, Toronto Foundation will share your contact information and donation amount with the Donor Advisor unless you have checked the anonymous box on the donation form.
