With great sadness, we acknowledge the loss of Toronto Foundation’s dear friend and colleague, Susan Hartnett. For over 20 years, Susan worked in a variety of capacities with the Foundation’s finance team, most recently championing our work in partnership with the Equality Fund. After a lengthy international finance career, working for organizations including the World Health Organization and UNICEF, Toronto Foundation was lucky enough to have Susan become part of its family.
Susan always could be counted on for her roll-up-her-sleeves countenance and no-thanks-required attitude. She represented Toronto Foundation’s values beautifully: in her humility, her commitment to public trust and her bravery.
“I could not have made it this far, had there not been angels along the way.” Della Reese
Toronto Foundation has established the Susan Hartnett Vital Toronto Fund in recognition of the decades of true angelic service Susan rendered to the Foundation, and as an expression of our deep gratitude to her.
Vital Toronto Funds support the long-term vitality of our city. This endowed fund, established in Susan’s honour, will grant to small and medium sized Toronto organizations, focused on some of our community’s most complex issues.
The Susan Hartnett Vital Toronto Fund will allow Susan’s name and commitment to our community to live on forever.
