Anishnawbe Health Foundation (AHF)
AHF addresses the healthcare needs of Toronto’s Indigenous community by securing resources to support their wellbeing. As a registered charity, AHF partners with donors to provide culturally safe healthcare for urban Indigenous communities through Anishnawbe Health Toronto (AHT), an accredited Community Health Centre. The vision is for healthy Indigenous peoples to contribute to sustainable communities, while promoting traditional healing, fostering understanding and respect for Indigenous culture.
In 2024:
- Traditional Healers and Helpers conducted 1,220 client visits, offering traditional services to 664 individuals;
- The mental health team completed 6,593 visits, supporting 1,628 individuals;
- The Rapid Access Addiction Medicine program conducted 2,177 visits for 245 individuals across downtown, east end and Scarborough areas.
Attending ceremonies provides a sense of identity, builds confidence, provides positive support. I am learning to become whole through my identity and culture.
