Na-Me-Res
Na-Me-Res supports First Nations, Métis and Inuit men experiencing homelessness by providing outreach, and temporary, transitional and permanent housing. Rooted in Indigenous traditions, their culturally based approach nurtures the whole person with respect, dignity and spirit—one that offers much more than just shelter.
In 2024, Na-Me-Res supported over 460 individuals experiencing homelessness and housed 91 people. Their Sagatay transitional housing program—which provides life skills training, cultural reconnection, Elder guidance, and counseling to Indigenous men in a year-long program—recently celebrated its largest graduation to date.
For many of our clients, homelessness can mean a loss of culture and identity. That's why providing a "roof over your head" is only the beginning. We provide all around support rooted in respect and dignity. Every person, journey and spirit is different.
15% of people experiencing homelessness in Toronto are Indigenous--even though they only make up 0.5% of the city’s population.
