Toronto Foundation is proud to partner with Evergreen, The City of Toronto and Toronto and Region Conservation Authority on The Loop, a bold city-building project aiming to create an 80 km multiuse trail network.
As a cornerstone of the City of Toronto’s Ravine Strategy, The Loop will invite locals and visitors to walk, cycle and run in the ravine corridors of the Don and Humber valleys, the Finch Hydro Corridor and the Lake Ontario waterfront. Approximately 80 per cent of the trail already exists, with future efforts focused on closing gaps and improving connections to create a continuous experience across the city.
More than a trail, The Loop envisions a city where neighbourhoods, green spaces and destinations are easier to reach and explore.

Beyond the trail itself, The Loop is rooted in a broader vision for community, connecting 57 neighbourhoods. Along the route, a series of hubs are being imagined as places where people can gather, celebrate local culture, share food, learn and experience nature. Early hub locations include Black Creek Community Farm, Learning Enrichment Foundation, Toronto Botanical Gardens, The Bentway and Evergreen Brick Works.
The project also places a strong emphasis on environmental stewardship and accessibility, with future improvements aimed at enhancing trail surfaces and wayfinding, supporting ecological restoration and creating welcoming amenities along the route.

The Loop remains in its early stages: Its future will be informed by consultations, collaboration and community feedback. We are happy to support Evergreen and fellow partners in exploring what is possible when we dream big about the world’s largest urban ravine system and how we build more connections throughout this city.
