Creating More Ways to Play

Getting kids outside to play is more important than ever. Childhood has changed, with more time spent on screens and less time playing outside with friends. In July, we announced the recipients of Free to Play, a national multi-year initiative with Community Foundations of Canada supporting organizations helping kids do just that. We’re pleased to share that now even more organizations will have the resources they need to get kids outside, playing and connected to community.

Through our legacy funds, we’re making multi-year grants to an additional 24 organizations that submitted strong applications to Free to Play. Scroll down to see the list of organizations and learn about their work.

These additional grants are possible because of fundholders who established legacy funds and trusted us to support evolving needs in the city. A legacy can take many forms, but at its heart is a belief in the future and a desire to make it better. These grants are made on behalf of those donors, continuing their passions and commitment to the community for years to come. Today, that vision is helping create more opportunities for children to play and communities to thrive.
