Toronto Aboriginal Support Services Council (TASSC)
Toronto Aboriginal Support Services Council (TASSC) initiates, amplifies and champions policy, advocacy, research, community engagement and collaboration within the Indigenous social services sector in Toronto. TASSCās membership includes 25 Indigenous-led organizations that make up a majority of the designated social services providers for Indigenous people living in Toronto, including housing, childrenās services, shelter services, 2-Spirit, menās and womenās programs, mental health, employment, education, legal, arts and cultural programs and more.
Growing collective advocacy means TASSC has been able to approach and access funding differently: from landing on a community basket agreement amongst members (taking only what you need for example) to advocating for urgent needs during COVID to developing a longer-term funding framework with the City of Toronto. In 2024, TASSC also took possession of their first office where members can gather.
By investing our time and energy into a model of governance that offers effective leadership, collaboration, and meaningful engagement today, we believe we can achieve our goal to help create and enable networks and systems of change that will impact the political, social and cultural environment for future generations to come.
