Native Women’s Resource Centre

The Native Women’s Resource Centre of Toronto (NWRCT) provides a safe and welcoming environment for all urban Indigenous women and their children in the Greater Toronto Area offering individual support, group and cultural programming.

Programming includes wraparound blanket services to address and support basic needs, housing, families, advocacy, employment, education, healing from trauma, and access to ceremonies and traditional practitioners/ healers.

NWRCT aims to build confidence and capacity within the collective community by hosting a variety of cultural activities for clients and the general public, including the Minaake Awards, Sisters in Spirit Vigil, and Winter Solstice.

Native Women's Resource Centre has been recognizing the achievement of the Indigenous community through the Minaake Awards. Started in 2013, the annual awards celebrate the achievements of Aboriginal women and youth who have made positive changes in their lives and significant contributions to their communities in the areas of leadership, advocacy and human rights, culture keepers, youth, 2SLGBTQ+ and walking the good path.
